Nirvesh not disappointed
Indian Idol Junior finalist Nirvesh Dave says he is happy with what he managed to achieve on the show — even though co-contestant Anjana Padmanabhan ultimately won the title. “I can’t say that I am feeling bad about this (not winning). The winner is not decided by our judges but voting. The judges would hear all of us singing and give us nice comments,” Nirvesh said the day after the winning contestant was announced.
Nirvesh, who hails from Ahmedabad, started singing when he was four years old. Ask him if anyone else in his family is a singer, and he says, “My father likes to sing but is not (a serious singer). I started singing when I was four and have done stage shows too.”
This junior idol completely enjoyed his stint for the show’s shoot in Mumbai, along with the other contestants and says there was always plenty of time to rehearse. “The channel would tell us which songs to sing for a (particular) week. We would practise that song so that when the shooting would start, it wasn’t like it was a last-minute thing,” Nirvesh says.
Nirvesh’s singing prowess was much appreciated by special guest Shah Rukh Khan. “Shah Rukh Khanji came for our show and he gave me compliments in Gujarati, which he had learnt for a film,” says a proud Nirvesh.
Back in his hometown after the rush of the past few weeks, Nirvesh says he will also have to resume school immediately: “When I was selected for the show after the auditions, my parents informed the school and they agreed (to let me skip class so I could participate). From tomorrow, I will get back to school.”
Apart from singing, Nirvesh loves art and craft and is an origami expert. He also likes to play table tennis and carrom.
