No fashion policing for Bips

Bong beauty Bipasha Basu takes criticism in her stride but fashion policing disturbs her. She believes fashion is something very personal and nobody has a right to comment on what another wears.

“A person chooses to wear something because she feels comfortable in that. I don’t believe in following trends and wearing something just because it’s in vogue. It’s like creating a conflict within your personality and trying to be somebody you can’t relate to,” said the actress on a recent visit to The School Of Fashion Technology in the capital to promote her film Aatma.
Talking to the students, she revealed that she has always wanted to create a dress. “I always get readymade dresses from designers and appreciate the art of designing. I know that my designer friends put a lot of ideas in their creations. Fashion is a creative business. It’s something that I’d like to try my hand at,” said Bipasha, who was accompanied by co-actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Looking at the chemistry between the actors, it seemed they have developed a mutual liking for each other while working in the film.
While passing through the crowd, the actors were seen whispering to each other. And, when it was Bipasha’s turn to speak about Nawaz, she couldn’t stop praising him. “He is one of the most handsome aatma you will ever come across,” she winked looking at Nawaz, who portrays the character of a spirit in the film.
In fact, at various occasions Bipasha has mentioned that she became a fan of Nawaz after watching him in Kahaani. “He is a brilliant actor I must say,” she said.
Talking more about the film, Bipasha says that though it’s a supernatural thriller, it’s quite different from the regular stuff and she enjoyed doing it. “Usually, supernatural thrillers are scary and girls don’t watch it. But in this case, it’s a must watch for girls as the film is high on emotional drama. It’s difficult to bring out the emotions of a woman in supernatural thrillers but our director Suparn has done a great job by bringing out all the emotions of the female protagonist,” said Bipasha.
However, the conversation again goes back to her style sense and her fashion choices. The designs that the fashion students created specially for the event inspired by the theme of the movie impressed the actor.
While she admired the collection that was mostly in white, she also revealed a secret or two about her choices. “When I am unable to decide what to wear, I usually go with a white or red dress. I know that would never look wrong on me,” said the actress who wore a Nandita Mahtani outfit to the event.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
