The fashion quotient just got higher — Christian Louboutin, Ikea, Abercrombie, Arcadia, Hennes and Mauritz, Prada and GAP will open their stores here in India.
Considering other big names like Zara, Canali, Marks and Spencer and Louis Vuitton are already in India with local partners, the fashion-conscious are quite excited with the variety that’s about to enter the market. Socialite Anisha Bhandary says, “Indians are one of the biggest buyers of big brands. It’s encouraging for India as a market since these brands have been trying to enter India for a long time now. I am really looking forward to Christian Louboutin.”
Even as a brand shopper has many options to choose from, there is some amount of skepticism revolving around the merchandise. Many feel the merchandise in Indian stores are outdated and over-priced.
Designer Amanda Bachalli says, “Indian shoppers have a different taste. The success of the brand depends on how well they gauge the likes and purchasing capacities of the shoppers. It will take them a while to get the market dynamics right.”
