Now Munni does a disco

She had the nation grooving to her moves as Munni and paved the way for Sheila and Chammak Challo. But now, Malaika Arora Khan is all set to disco in her next item number. The yummy mummy was in town on Monday for a product launch and we caught up with her to find out more.
“The song is called Anarkali Disco Chali and I’ve finished shooting for it,” says Malaika. “It’s for Sajid Khan’s Housefull 2 which will come out some time next year and it’s choreographed by Farah Khan once again.” While Munni was earthy and rustic, Anarkali, she reveals, will be the complete opposite.
So what are the chances of an encore for the Dabangg sequel? “Well it’s still in pre-production and shooting will begin only next year, so I can’t say. It’s entirely up to the director,” she says.
Meanwhile, we hear Mallika Sherawat will be Munni in the Tamil remake of the film. Malaika confirms saying, “The makers of the film will be showing us the song to get our feedback and I’m really eager to see how it turns out.” She’s all praise for item girls, be it Katrina, Kareena or Mallika. The latest to join the bandwagon, Chitrangada Singh recently said that she looks up to Malaika as a role model. “I’m really flattered,” she responds, adding, “It’s great to see hot mommies giving the young girls a run for their money.”
Speaking of age, a quick Internet search puts hers at 38, but one wouldn’t know it. “Don’t believe what you read on Wikipedia!” She says, “I have another four-five years to go before I hit 40.”
And the lady is as busy as ever. She says, “Right now I’ve started working on a TV project, Nachle Ve with Saroj Khan. Saroj ji will be choreographing and I will be taking on the role of mentor and judge every week.” She’s also working on a Spanish documentary, she tells us. “It’s all about the quintessential senorita and the flamenco dance, so I’m quite excited about it.” Though she’s best known for her Munni moves, she’s professionally trained in Bharatnatyam, Russian ballet and jazz ballet, she reveals.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
