Open up your eyes
Those bags or circles under the eyes caused by any number of issues can be upsetting to women and men alike. Such problems are now found cropping up even at young age. Sushma Khan, National skin and make up trainer at Lakme, who has worked with the likes of Mandira Bedi, Shabana Azmi, Sharmila Tagore and others, says while there is no scientific evidence that over-the-counter remedies work, but they are worth a try when combined with some home remedies.
Water wonder
The major factor why most men and women get puffiness and dark circles is fluid or water retention, besides alcohol and inadequate sleep. Rinse your face with several splashes of cold water to ease the puffiness away. Under eye treatments include a soothing eye massage with gentle eye gel, followed by a soothing cold pack to calm down the circulation around the eyes. Massage around the brow bone helps drain out toxins and accumulation of fluid.
Cool as cucumber
Home remedies work best for puffy eyes and dark circles. Take cucumber slices, put them in the refrigerator for a few hours to enhance its cooling effect and place them on your eyes. This wonder veggie has soothing astringent properties that are cool and soothing. It works well for your tired, swollen eyes.
Dip, dip, dip
Refrigerate the tea bags for some time with a little water and place them on and around your eyes. Your eyes will be fresh and glow from within. You can use either green tea or black tea for this method. The caffeine helps lessen swelling and constrict blood vessels.
Potato power
The starch in Mr Spud works as a good anti-inflammatory agent. Grate the potato as fine as possible and put the pulp in a clean cloth, to make a poultice. If you are in a rush just cut it into slices and place it over the eyelids for at least 15 minutes. Also keep your eyes lubricated with a good under eye cream.
