Orange is next big thing in car palette
Traditional colours like black, grey, silver are paving the way for bold and rainbow colours like yellow, red, pink and blue. When it comes to choosing the colour of the vehicle, many believe that the colour of a car reflects the attitude of its owner. Maybe that’s why fashionista Paris Hilton got a custom-made pink Bentley for herself. Well, bright and funky colours are now rolling out with added speed on Indian roads too.
Like 24-year-old Ashima Sejpal, after comparing the specification of the cars, finally settled down for one in flaming red. “I didn’t even look at traditional colours like silver or grey while deciding my car. White is so boring. A fast red car has always been my dream. It’s bold and it’s the best. Being my first car, it describes me perfectly,” she says.
Says Akshit Singh, an amateur photographer, “I remember my family car was a white Ambassador. It was given to my father by his company. Then when we got our first car 12 years ago, it was a white Maruti 800, which dad is still driving. So, while the cars changed, the colour remained the same. I wanted to experiment with colour at least, and went for a blue A Star,” he says.
Youngsters today have more disposable income and have the financial strength to buy cars for themselves. China Fashion and Colour Association predicts brighter colours like orange to be the new fashion trend in this year’s car market. According to Kartik Ganesh of Carwale.com, manufactures have gone ahead and come up with designs and colours that appeal to youngsters. “Black is not ideal because of the weather conditions, so white is much preferred, which is why it is very popular,” he adds.
Experts believe a crazy colour should blend in perfectly with the design of the car. Like Chevy Beat in cocktail green and super red looks awesome.
