Oriental expressions
Flowers in myriad colours, bamboo leaves and birds printed on slinky satin fabric that kisses the skin. Artistic, pretty and oh so exotic! Is it any wonder then that eastern prints and kimono dresses are huge in the fashion world right now?
Says actress Rishika Singh, “Authentic traditional fashion from a far off land always carries a sense of appeal. In the same way that the saree is a revered piece of clothing abroad. What makes eastern fashion popular is that it comes in vibrant colours that are totally in right now.” She owns a short kimono dress in bright orange, that she is saving up for a sophisticated evening out. “I love it since it’s minimal yet so stylish!” she adds.
Model Dayana is a huge fan of wrap-around dresses since she carried them off well. And she’s crazy about kimono dresses in particular. “I love the combination of wrap-around dresses and florals, and kimono dresses club both aspects. It is a sensual item of clothing. I usually wear it with pencil heels or peep toes, and a high ponytail with a pouf. I am often told that I look very “eastern” in that attire, which I take as a compliment,” she says.
