Out-of-the-box V-Day gifts for love birds

Cute bunnies, red roses, mushy heart-shaped gifts and imported chocolates are passé. So are expensive candle-light dinners and diamond pendants! The youth in the city are celebrating the annual ritual of love, namely the Valentine’s Day, but are looking for out-of-the-box gifts for their partners. We narrow down on a few such city couples.

“I was telling my boyfriend about how I haven’t ever tried any adventure sports till date and would love to do so. He has chosen to gift me something unique for this V-day. We will be sky diving with an internationally acclaimed Spanish crew,” chuckles 25-year-old Prerna Sridhar, referring to her upcoming stint at Aamby Valley City. The couple will be specially flying to Mumbai to experience the thrill.
A smile can make a lot of difference and a Swarovski smile will definitely make you stand out. “I have always been praised for a beautiful smile. My partner decided to gift me a Swarovski tooth jewel to add more sparkle to my smile,” says Chandni. She would be going to Dental Roots, Gurgaon for her fitting soon.
Married couples are also trying out interesting options. “We have been married for three years now and always try and gift each other on Valentine’s Day. We will be renewing our marriage vows, which have been personalised by us, at an ancient Shiva temple. I found the idea very romantic,” smiles Shaurya Chauhan.
Getting specialised applications to express love on smartphones, going on a spiritual sojourn together near the Himalayas and getting a portrait of your loved one done by a renowned artist, are other interesting plans by city couples that are topping the love list.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
