Paint the town orange

Orange is one of the hottest trends to grace the both international and national beauty trends this season. If 2012 had to define one definitive colour trend that’s going ahead to the next season, then it has to be tangerine — saucy, playful and yet not OTT.

Sakshi Sethi, make-up expert, Colorbar cosmetics swears by bright colours making a huge comeback this winter. Orange in its many avatars is also one of the few make-up trends which easily got off international ramps and into the Indian woman’s make-up bag. Tangerine is an exciting colour and also suits Indian skin tone best. Indian skin has yellow undertones and orange just manages to complement this without jarring with the natural skin tone.
Cool corals: Also orange in its many shades and variants can be worn in many ways. Orange shades range from warm, like corals, tangerines and rusts, to cool, like hot neon, true orange etc. Orange can also be paired with any kind of outfit shade. For instance, you can use it to perk up an all dark outfit like black with orange make-up accents, or you can use it to break the monotony of monotones like blue or green.
How haute is going too hot: The one thing that you need to make sure with orange in its many shades is to ensure that you do not overdo it. For instance if you are going for hot orange eye shadow, use a nude shade of coral or beige on your lips. Similarly you can use a hot tangerine eye-shadow with a nice soft coral blusher and go for nude lips. The best thing about orange is that you can pair it up with a nice brown or green eye-shadow to create further drama and accentuate your peepers.
Look hues talking: If you’re the one who wants to get noticed, then go all out with orange lips:
Face: Apply full cover concealer under the eye followed by full cover makeup stick for a healthy skin followed by a perfect match compact.
Eyes: The key is to keep it simple with brown eye-pencil smudged on the upper lash line. Use an eye-definer, defining the lower lash lines as well for a soft definition. Finish with a duo mascara to open it up.
Cheeks: Keep it soft with earth tone blusher.
Lips: Start by defining lips with new definer lip pencil. Outline and fill with lip pencil in sinful oranges, or lighter tangerines or burnt orange. Pucker up, girls!

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
