The PC enabler
California-based NComputing has launched a USB-connected virtual desktop, U170 that has the potential to turn a PC into two or more. The revolutionary USB virtual desktop is based on the simple fact that today’s PCs are so powerful that the vast majority of people use only a small fraction of the processor’s capacity. The U170 thin client taps this unused resource so that a computer can be simultaneously shared by many users.
So, on a network of 10 computers, you could run the business with just one PC connected to a CPU, while the rest of the machines can be attached to the PC-CPU combination through their respective U170s. The U170 has a longer working life than a PC and it not just saves space, but is also economical, cuts the carbon footprint of a PC and requires less maintenance.
