‘Performing live is ecstatic’

Having performed all over the world, DJ Marco V, also known as the magician of trance, is on a India tour.
Marco, who performed in Delhi before his gig at the Blue Frog Club in Mumbai, is in love with the energy of the partygoers in India. “I love India and hope that it will meet my expectations as it has always done till now,” he says. The record producer and DJ, who started performing at the age of 14 says it was his passion to mix sounds that has got him going. “It was a passion then and still is,” he says.
Ask what makes him excited about going to the podium and spinning some of his favourite tracks, Marco replies, “Every time I am performing in front of a live audience it is an ecstatic feeling to watch people listen to your music and enjoy it.”
But the core inspiration for the Dutch DJ’s music is his love for mixing sounds. Marco’s music has played an important role in shaping the electronica dance music scene globally. His latest single — Rokker, has got good reviews from fans as well as critics. “I mix sounds and I like to innovate,” says Marco, adding, “Right now, I have so much in my hand. My next mix-compilation TAO volume 2 is out, the single track Rokker on TAO Recordings is out now on Beatport. I did a collaboration with Marcel woods which is testing really well.”
Trance fans have a lot to look forward to from the artiste in the next few months. “I’m also releasing a track on my other label In Charge with Damian William called Essence and a follow up with Russel Greer,” says Marco, who will also be performing at the Sunburn festival in December.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
