Post-CWG city turns new leaf
Post CWG it looks like the Delhi has undergone a major attitude transformation. The city which was once tagged as the “capital of rudeness” is now the most welcoming city for foreign tourists. Perhaps, we can say that the entire campaign by the CM has finally seen some fruitful results and the city has surely turned a new leaf.
For many tourists in the city, who are visiting Delhi for the first time it’s a pleasant surprise to find the local people helpful and polite. Tom Collings, who is from Australia and came to the capital for the CWG shares his experience. He says, “New Delhi is really amazing and people here are very warm towards foreigners. I had so many wrong notions before coming here, but I was very happy to see the facilities and hospitality in the city offered was fabulous. The night life is amazing because when I went out with friends on a weekend, we had no problems finding an auto after midnight.”
The new ‘clean and green Delhi’ is attracting many tourists because it’s very well connected and there are transport facilities available 27x7. Markus Chirst, a German student, who came to Delhi with his college friends to see the games, feels that Delhi is at par with any other international city. He says, “I was impressed to see broad roads and clean transport system. Whenever we got stuck with names or areas and opened our maps, people came up to us and guided us to the right place. The markets were also cheap and it was a good experience interacting with local people.”
