Prachi eyes negative role
Prachi Desai is busy reading fresh scripts and waiting for that one image-changer meaty role. After portraying a wife and lover with actors like Farhan Akhtar, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Sanjay Dutt, the actress Desai is looking forward to surprising her audience with an unconventional role.
“I am blessed with an innocent face, which is why I keep getting offers of the girl-next-door kinds. But I’d love to do something that is entirely opposite to what I look like. Actors often get typecast. I don’t want the viewers to form a particular image of mine. I would love to surprise them by playing a negative character, if given a chance,” shares Desai, who was in the capital for Shilpkar Superstructure’s launch of its premium township.
When asked if she is more comfortable working in films or likes doing powerful roles on the small screen, the actress says, “I started my career with television and I definitely like the medium for the amount of exposure it provides. But silver screen allows you to experiment with the roles that you want to play, unlike soap operas where you have to play a certain kind of role.”
Currently, the diva is looking for a romantic role and is tight-lipped about her upcoming projects. “Rock On! was one-of-its-kind movie. Let’s hope that the sequel turns to be a refreshing change for the audience. Of all the scripts that I am reading, I might end up picking a romantic film,” signs off Desai.
