Pubs gear up to host CWG theme parties

Even though many people have been cribbing about poor infrastructure, missed deadlines and rampant corruption, when it comes to the Commonwealth Games, but CWG has given the Delhi pubs all the reasons to cheer and party. Now, pubs in the capital are planning interesting CWG theme-based parties to celebrate the carnival.

Freeze Lounge in Rajouri Garden recently hosted a CWG party, where guests got to flaunt their trendy ‘Shera’ tattoos (“mascot of CWG”). Says Kinny Jain, owner of the pub, “We are planning to host more such parties to boost the enthusiasm of Delhiites for the Games. We’re planning to host special parties once a week till the Games start and later it will be a daily affair, till the Games are on. We’re planning to give out CWG T-shirts and masks to our guests and also rename our menu and cocktails after sports names like Bowling Shots etc.”
Mohit Jain, owner, Freeze Lounge, also informs that their new pub Jinx at Intercontinental, Nehru Place, will be unveiled on the opening day of the Games. “The pub is to welcome delegates and players to our city,” Mohit informs.
“Besides special parties, we are setting our décor according to the CWG theme with ‘Shera’ stuff toys. The pub will be open 24x7. It’s only for delegates and players and entry is only through membership. It is basically to welcome our foreign delegates, so special menus and cocktails is set for them,” adds Mohit.
There are few, who are yet to decide their themes. While Smoke House Grill will plan special discounts and fun activities, Hard Rock Café, Saket, will be giving out memorabilia to the guests. “We will have special CWG pins collection. These pins will have figure of girls holding guitar and dressed up in any sporty outfit like boxer swim suits etc,” avers Amit Keswani, VP, JSM, Corp Pvt Ltd.
And party lovers in the city are upbeat about this initiative. Says Shobhit Sujay, a student, “If we can celebrate World Cup and FIFA, then why not CWG? I’m completely positive about the Games and hope they will pass without any hurdles.”
