Radiant swan of fitness

One of the first things that strike you about Nisha Javeri is her simplicity, even when she’s surrounded by luxury and the high life.

A complete South Bombayite, Nisha comes across as a breath of fresh air, especially because she’s completely bereft of any snobbish behaviour.
Nisha, the radiant and beautiful founder of Myrah Spa, among the leading spas in Mumbai, says life has been one exciting journey for her. And though she was born and brought up in a gated SoBo locality, her parents were extremely strict about her timings, she recalls. “Till I got married, I never really attended late-night parties. It was much after marriage that I did things what teenagers do these days. My parents wanted me home by 7 in the evening. Probably the only time I came home late in my teenage days was during my farewell party,” Nisha says.
Being born in a business family has its pros and cons, and Nisha learnt the meaning of responsibility at a very young age. “I observed the family business and somewhere at the back of my mind, I wanted to get into business myself. It was always a long-term plan and I decided to finally take the plunge once my son was slightly older,” says Nisha.
And once she was ready, her own business had to be about fitness, as she had always been a health conscious person. “Fitness is one of the most important aspects of a healthy lifestyle. I grew up admiring my mother who glowed all the time and I wanted to be like her: Prim and perfect,” says Nisha, adding that she is a very organised person. “I am an early riser and I love running. I often reflect when I’m running and then on, after breakfast and sending my son off to school, I am working all day long till dinner.”
Weekends for Nisha are about dinner with friends, brunches and movies. Though she loves clothes, she says she’s not finicky about brands, instead choosing to wear whatever is comfortable and easy. “I’m slightly partial towards Armani. Like most other women, I too love the good things in life, especially jewellery and bags. However, from the time I started working, I haven’t had much time to look into such things, as work keeps me happy and blissful,” says Nisha.
And of course, every once in a while, she needs to get away from the chaos of the city. “My favourite holiday destinations are Switzerland, Venice, Rome and London. I simply love Switzerland and the coast of Venice. The breathtaking scenery takes you to another world,” says Nisha. And that’s not all; the lady has an adventurous streak in her as well. She’s just started practising deep sea diving as well. “I’m a sports person and I love adventure sports. I’ve just enrolled to learn deep sea diving and would love to learn scuba diving as well. And skiing, apart part from all that,” she says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
