Rakul’s dream B’wood debut
Rakul Preet, the third runner-up in the Miss India Pageant 2011, is set to enter the Bollywood industry with Yaariyaan — the directorial debut of T-Series’ head honcho Bhushan Kumar’s wife Divya Kumar.
The young actor, who has already proved her acting prowess in South Indian films, is a mathematics graduate. Even in the film, she portrays the role of a nerd, who is very good with numbers. “Trust me, it’s easier to play a totally different character than one very near to your own personality. There were times I would get a bit confused about how much reality should be mixed with pretence. At other times, when I studied the character, I’d feel I needed to get more pep infused in my real life,” she quips.
While shooting for the upcoming movie, her senior co-star, Deepti Naval praised her and compared her with actors like Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit. Rakul was pleasantly surprised with the admiration. “I am delighted with the praise. Deepti ma’am feels I should capitalise on my Indian looks and hone my dancing skills,” she says.
