Ready to rock as a village belle

The pretty and petite actress Minissha Lamba, who was last seen in Shirish Kunder’s Joker, is now busy shooting for director Anand Kumar’s thriller Zilla Ghaziabad. The movie is based on a real life gang war incident that happened between two rival groups of Satbir Gurjar and Mahender Fauji in Ghaziabad.
According to sources, while shooting in Ghaziabad, which is infamous for its high crime rate, four security guards outside her hotel accompanied Minissha during her stay.
Speaking about her shooting experience in the city, Minissha says, “Shooting in Ghaziabad was not at all easy, as it is a risky place. After the fiasco on the sets, the producer was very clear about having personal security guards for all of us, especially me. So for safety reasons they were kind enough to oblige even before I asked for it.”
Minissha, who is a Delhi girl, feels that living in the capital makes one strong. However, while comparing Mumbai and Delhi, she says, “Delhi makes you strong, whereas Mumbai makes you independent. Even though I am a Delhi girl, I love staying in Mumbai because of its freedom. Mumbai is so much more safe then Delhi. I love the never-ending spirit of Mumbai.”
Minissha, who has portrayed roles ranging from a coy girl-next-door to a sex bomb, is excited about her next act as a village girl. Speaking about her role in the movie, Minissha mentions, “I play a desi belle who is the love interest of Arshad Warsi in the film. I will be seen in colourful ghagra cholis.”
While most of her counterparts were busy signing projects in Bollywood, Minissha says she was travelling and learning kick-boxing and diving. She says, “I was busy shooting for Joker and Zilla Ghaziabad this year. But I am a travel freak, and I saw different corners of the world this time and travelled the world. I learnt scuba diving and kick-boxing and enjoyed my free time. As of now, I am just travelling and enjoying my time with family.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
