Rock gods set the city on fire

It was indeed a special date for Guns N’ Roses fans in the city, who couldn’t get enough of the iconic band on 12/12/12 at the widespread Leisure Valley grounds, Gurgaon. The hard rock band belted many crowd pleasers like Sweet Child O’ Mine, Knocking On Heavens Door, Don’t Cry and the uplifting November Rain sending the capacity crowd into a frenzy.

Speaking about the massive turnout and the arrangements at the venue, Karamjeet Singh, of Mooz Entertainment, mentions that this was a “record” concert in Gurgaon. He says, “We were expecting a good turnout after seeing Mumbai and Bengaluru’s response, but Gurgaon amazed us. We managed to get Axl Rose on stage at seven and he performed for three hours straight. The band was so impressed by the crowd and there was no rowdiness, which proved that Delhi is ready for large-scale concerts. We deployed 1,200 securitymen and booked the entire 50 acre venue for this event.”
A lot of people wondered why one should attend the Guns N’ Roses concert because their ex-guitarist Slash no longer plays for them, but Kanwar Anand, an ardent Guns N’ Roses fan, travelled all the way to see his favourite Axl Rose perform.
He mentions, “Let’s just say Guns N’ Roses is very much alive. They have a bunch of new exuberant rock and rollers that get the band moving and Axl Rose is an awesome showman. Slash’s presence was not missed because Rose had the crowd going crazy with his voice, his piano, mic skills and his general sense of humour.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
