Sachin has no postal worries
Don Bradman, playing in some part of Australia. it was said that the above short line on an envelope was good enough to deliver the letter addressed to the legendary batsman Don Bradman. Sachin Tendulkar, who moved into his new house recently, will have no problem receiving letters even if the address is incomplete, informs Nandkishori Mishra, head at the Bandra post office.
Speaking exclusively, she said, “We are yet to receive the official intimation from Sachin Tendulkar about his change of address. But going by the media reports and TV news, we shall deliver all his mails even if addressed at his old address.”
Shivaji More, postman (no. 14), who has been delivering letters in Sachin’s new area is excited. “Now at least I will be able to catch a glimpse of the star batsman,” he said. “Ever since Sachin bought this bungalow (Dorab Villa, 19-A, Perry Cross Road, Opp. Joggers’ Park, Bandra West) some three years ago, I have been delivering letters to his security man. It is a rule to deliver the registered letters to the addressee, but one cannot be rigid about this rule for Tendulkar. I wouldn’t mind being a little flexible about the rule when Sachin is on tour,” the postman added.
Another postman (no. 26), Vithal Ganpat Kure, who has been in charge of the area where Sachin’s old address, La Mer Society exists, says, “Alas, I will not be able to see him. I had to deliver his letters to the security people here. Sachin used to get 10-15 letters daily.”
“Sachin is yet to name his new villa. He has shortlisted a few names but hasn’t finalised the final name yet,” Marcus Coutto, the BCCI umpire and one of his close friends, said.
