Saif and Kareena officially became man and wife on Tuesday

Sticking to simple traditional ceremonies, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor exchanged vows on Tuesday night at the heavily guarded Taj Mahal Palace, Colaba. The baraat entered the venue around 7.30 pm and were welcomed by the bride’s mother and former actress Babita, who applied a tikka on Saif’s forehead.

The couple, which is set to have a nikaah today, had a Christian ceremony as Babita is a practising Christian.
The baraat was welcomed by the music of late Pakistani maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, put together by popular DJ and friend of the couple Aqeel Ali. No sooner had Saif arrived, the music changed signalling the arrival of the glowing bride Kareena. Saif and Kareena exchanged garlands made of red and white flowers with traces of green.
“Red, white and green are the traditional colours of Pataudi. Kareena too wore green and red at her register wedding ceremony. As it’s been just over a year since Saif’s father passed away, both sides of the family have tried to keep the festivities as private and traditional as possible,” says our source.
Amongst an eclectic mix of fusion and traditional music, closest friends and family, Saif and Kareena became man and wife, again. Guests, who were instructed to keep their presents on a common table ahead of the couple’s arrival, showered the newlyweds with blessings as well. The Mumbai celebrations drew to close at Saif and Kareena’s favourite hotel in the city. Now over to Pataudi.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
