Sanjay and I are still friends: Dharam
Here’s the latest in the Department debacle saga: While Ram Gopal Varma and the rest of B’town is busy alleging that Dharam Oberoi is out to damage Sanjay Dutt’s career, the trust between Oberoi and Sanjay seems as strong as ever. “We are very much still friends. For the past many days and even this morning, I’ve been reading stories in tabloids that seem to have the breakdown of our friendship as the agenda. But that’s never going to happen,” says a confident Dharam Oberoi.
Dharam has been Sanjay’s media manager for some years. “Hits and flops are a part of an actor’s and filmmaker’s career. You can’t go around playing the blame game. We have never accused any filmmaker for the failure of any film and it’s unethical to pass the buck on to the star when you (Ram Gopal Varma) are unable to make a good film,” he says angrily.
Apparently, Sanjay is in Jaipur shooting for Ashtavinayak’s forthcoming film, Sher. Dharam says, “This morning, I flew from Mumbai to Jaipur because he wanted me to. I don’t care what Ramu or the rest of the industry is saying. I’m Sanjay’s well wisher and will always be with him through thick and thin.”
The Sanjay Dutt camp is alleging that Ramu’s lack of vision as a director is to blame for his recent failures, but Dharam asserts, “We’re not commenting on his malicious comments.”
