Scars have sex appeal
Marks and scars are something women hate to have, but for men, they are a badge of honour. Celebrities like Sidhartha Mallya and Abhishek Bachchan are known to love their scars.
Junior Bachchan, who was left with six stitches above his right eye after a mishap on the sets, tweeted: “The father and mrs. In an attempt to make me feel better told me that a scar on the face adds character and apparently even looks sexy!”
More recently, Sid Mallya joined the club when he suffered facial injury. He tweeted, “stitches taken out..bloody hurt more than putting them in!! Doc says they were put them in badly so gonna leave a scar!! Nice!”
What’s so nice you may think, but for women generally a scar is something that makes a man seem dangerous and sexy.
Best-selling author Radhakrishnan Pillai believes, “Though in India we have believed in non-violence, men with scars of a fight are looked upon as manly.”
A study in the UK too proves that scarring enhances a man’s attractiveness at least for a short term relationship. His risk-taking personality communicates a strong man who has been through (and survived ) violence. “Good genes is what women are looking for eventually and the ability to ‘take care’ of his woman,” says script writer Shivam. He adds, “This comes through when a woman sees scars as the man’s ability to survive a fight though he may get scarred in the process.”
Women dig men with scars. Think Harrison Ford’s chin scar or Joaquin Phoenix’s lip slit! So manly! It shows they’ve ‘lived’ and have some interesting story to it. Author Shaiju Mathew feels a road map of scars is something to be proud of. “For men it is a sign of machismo to showcase. Women love rough and tough guys who they think can take care of them.”
Scars add character. It shows the man is capable of protecting. “Traditionally men are rough and tough and women motherly. That explains the reason that men love marks and scars and women hate it!” concludes Shaiju.
So ladies, the next time you see a man with scars, don’t think you are alone in your scar fetish. Go for it.
