Sell break-up blues online
Technology has changed the way we deal with break-ups. A broken heart can now help you cash in on the gifts from your ex. And how. A new website helps lovers make money from undesired presents from their exes. Annabel Acton, 28, has created this website neverlikeditanyway.com, where the sellers are required to post the “real world” price of the item, the discounted break-up price, a photo of the item, and blog about their break-up.
“I hope it’s accessible to Indians, after all I have plenty of goodies to be thrown away,” laughs Gunjan, a PR professional.
So you needn’t be saddled with the emotional baggage, instead, go out there and sell off that unwanted stuff. “I have a platinum ring by my boyfriend and would love to put it up for auction. What I liked about the website is that it helps you connect with the sellers and buyers directly. It’s basically an online auction which helps you get rid of those countless useless expensive gifts,” says Rhea Nathani, a final year student.
And then there are some who plan to make the right use of someone else’s break-up story. “I might just buy a deal for my girlfriend from someone else’s story. There’s stuff that you get at pretty cheap rates. For instance, there was someone selling off a 1.74 carat princess-cut solitaire ring for $6,800. The original price was $10,250. Well, if you’re earning in dollars, you can’t complain!” says Puneet Khanuja, a student.
