Shine with flying colours
Abhishek Agarwal’s journey to Kentucky, USA, started with a warm check-in session by Office of International Affairs where he was thrilled to see about 4,500 students being inducted in a very systematic way. This was followed by the week loaded with festivities and lots of fun activities.
Agarwal is one from the three awarded scholarships by the University of Kentucky (UK).
For the 2012-2013 school year, the varsity has awarded three undergraduate Indian students highly competitive scholarships — one of which fully covered tuition. For Mangalore-born Ronita Mathai, pursuing Chemical Engineering from UK, her SAT score played a big role in her admission and scholarship offer. “Fifty per cent of my tuition gets covered by my scholarship, which is quite a lot of money,” she says.
“The international enrollment manager went out of her way to make the application process as convenient for me as possible,” said Harkabir Saluja.
The decision to choose University of Kentucky for studying Finance was not easy for Bengaluru boy Agarwal as he says, “I decided on this university for the positive responses it received in terms of academics, sports and overall as the best university town I have come across.”
Mathai says, “The faculty is very helpful. They are very prompt in responding to emails of students.”
