Simply irresistible!
Their single status is usually the talk of the town. Now single fathers have all the more reason to enjoy their status with scientists claiming that they are irresistible to women. A study in UK reveals that single fathers have a better chance of settling down compared to single mommies.
With real-life examples like Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Aamir Khan, who have been successful in finding partners, despite the ‘dad’ tag, definitely show a positive sign. Their never-give-up attitude and the relationship they nurture with their kids is something that fancies the fairer sex. Their show of love and care towards their child makes them all the more hot and appealing. “A man with a kid is like a man with a pet. It portrays his sensitive side of being caring and women go weak when they spot such a man. Additionally, a man shows his sense of responsibility when he is with his child. His willingness to move beyond himself is what women look for. They know here is a man who can be a good partner and a father,” says television anchor and sommelier Magandeep Singh.
Right from changing diapers, taking the child to school and on picnics, when a man doubles up as the woman, he is okay with not being able to do things as per his will and that works for him. “Single fathers tend to exude a sense of vulnerability. They show the metrosexual side and are okay with accepting the role of a mother, and perhaps that attracts women to him. He comes across as being more organised and stable and is sure to be a good husband. While on the other hand, single mothers find it difficult to get hitched because men wonder whether the independent woman actually needs a man in her life,” explains sports commentator Charu Sharma.
Whether separated or widowed, single fathers take that extra effort to be with their child. But it does not work in their favour always.
Those who have been through it, admit it’s not easy. “I am a single father and I know what it means. I don’t think single fathers stand a chance of settling down easily because of various reasons. First, the woman will think that the man will remain attached to his kids from the first marriage. Then, she may also be insecure that the man will show more love and affection to his first marriage kids over her children. Finally, when it comes to taking care of a child, the chores and the housework spell the death of the relationship,” says social commentator Alyque Padamsee. Despite the skepticism men do agree, it’s easier for single fathers to get hitched. “The way we think, our moral stories, values and our society — everything is based on the male perspective. It’s any day easier for the man to find a partner,” says theatre person Abhishek Iyengar.
