Smiling their way to a brighter tomorrow

A few years back due to financial restrictions, brothers Dheeraj and Suraj could not even think of continuing their high school education let alone studying engineering at one of the most reputed engineering institutions. But now they are all excited about starting a new life at Delhi College of Engineering.

“We migrated from rural Bihar in search of livelihood. My father managed to find a one-room house in Hauz Rani village and tried to make ends meet by working as a tailor. Our elder siblings had to drop out of school because of financial restrictions. We were headed for the same fate until we enrolled into Smile Foundation’s Mission Education centre and my teachers showed confidence in us,” says Dheeraj.
Seeing their dedication to studies, the foundation extended financial support to turn their dreams into reality. The brothers started taking coaching at Arohan School. “Even IIT students used to attend these classes,” informs Suraj. “We used to sleep for only four hours. We dedicated all our time to studies. We even secured a seat in NMIT Jaipur and our family and teachers are all very proud of us,” adds Dheeraj.
