Smriti is back after a hiatus
Politicians have a tendency to use all platforms to voice their political ideologies. But TV actor and All India President of the Women’s Wing of BJP, Smriti Irani, who spoke bluntly against Congress during the recent Himachal Pradesh elections, was in no mood to “target any politician” during her recent visit to the capital.
The TV actor was here to announce her association with a special eight-part series of Savdhaan India, a show based on crime in Delhi. When asked whether the capital remains unsafe due to lack of proper governance, she remarked, “I am not answering any political assumptions or suppositions. I can only talk about the show.”
She is happy to be associated with the show. “I am happy to be the face against crime in Delhi,” she says. She adds that she would bring to the fore those cases where the common man spoke up against law-breakers.
She recalled how early in her career she made a choice to move to Mumbai because she felt Delhi was not safe enough. “Dilli me kuchh nawabzade aise hain jo sochte hain ki Dilli unki jagir hai. They think they can tamper with the law. I made a move to Mumbai because of this attitude,” she says.
Talking about her long break from TV, she quips, “I have cried for 10 years as a bahu on TV. Now, I’ll take up something where I can smile for sometime.”
At the moment, she is enoying politics and keenly looking forward to a new innings in television.
