Jennifer Lopez likes to pamper herself with foot reflexology

Foot reflexology is natural therapy that stimulates the body to heal itself. With its roots believed to date from ancient Egypt, reflexology is the technique of applying gentle pressure to reflex areas on the feet or hands to bring about a state of deep relaxation and to stimulate the body’s own healing processes.

Zaiba Abdulla who runs Footworks India says besides calming your nerves, it can also help in getting a glow on your face.
Variations of the modern practice of reflexology existed in many of the ancient healing cultures. Different orientations evolved as local healing practices were incorporated into the ancient healing art.

Happy feet
Reflexology is rising on the popularity charts across the world, in various nomenclatures such as, Pressure Point Massage, Compression Massage, Pointed Pressure Massage, Vita-Flex, Zone Therapy, Reflex Zone Therapy or Reflexotherapy.
Firmly established across the orient for years, but becoming a popular relaxing trend of late, many are now turning to reflexology for its ability to relieve stress and relax the body and mind. It is based on the principle that the foot is like a chart of the body: divided into ten reflex zones. It is a mirror image of the body. A reflexology chart shows how each reflex zone corresponds to a part of the body. Specific manipulation and pressure of reflex points reduces and eliminates blockages in the corresponding organs, and therefore restores a healthy balance.

Footnotes
Many benefits include, reduction in stress; it also improves circulation throughout the body, rejuvenates the system and increases energy levels, breaks up the blockages affecting the flow of energy, relieves common aches and pains, contributes to the overall well-being of the body, mind and soul, clears toxins and helps in weight loss and aids fertility.

Pamper yourself
Did you know that when you apply reflexology, you stimulate 7,000 nerves in the feet? By using a compression technique you can create a direct response in a related body area. If there was one magic button to unwind, it surely would have been on your feet.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
