Sonu all set for bigger platform
He who laughs last, laughs longest. This is an adage that certainly holds true for Sonu Sood. This gifted actor is riding on the wave of his post-Dabangg success and is ready to move on to a bigger platform. And an unexpected meeting with acclaimed filmmaker Ang Lee may just provide that opportunity.
“I did get a call from Lee through the casting director of his next project The Life of Pi. But it’s too premature to let the balloon of excitement seep into my system at the moment, as things are yet to be put on paper,” says Sonu.
“I ran into Lee at a five star hotel two weeks ago and the interaction was extremely engaging. Notwithstanding his stature as a top-notch Hollywood director, he is indeed a very humble human being. He comes across as an extremely friendly, affable person to talk to sans the usual celebrity airs,” Sonu says of his meeting with the Brokeback Mountain director.
When probed about when he is likely to sign the dotted line, Sonu says he is considering the role with utmost seriousness. “But there’s one hindrance to get the final nod for taking on the role. I may have to get rid of my beefy image to slip into a father’s shoes and that too of a teenager’s!” he smiles.
For the uninitiated, Lee’s forthcoming film is a celluloid adaptation of the Man Booker Prize winning novel, The Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
