Split wide open for Sid-Deeps!

That’s right folks! Often thought of as the modern day Anil Ambani-Tina Munim couple, billionaire scion Sidhartha Mallya and Deepika are rumoured to have parted ways.

Dippy had made a dramatic entry in Sidhartha’s life soon after she had broken up with Ranbir Kapoor. Back then, the buzz was that she had got involved with Sid on the rebound and that was probably the reason the two never admitted to their relationship in public. The actress had even vehemently denied Sidhartha gifting her a plush apartment in the up-market locales of South Mumbai.
The reason, sources tell us, for their break up was that Sidhartha was unhappy with his girlfriend bonding with ex-beau Ranbir. Post the success of Rockstar, Deepika realised that Ranbir’s market value was skyrocketing while hers — after a string of failures opposite Imran Khan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham and even Akshay Kumar — was touching rock bottom. She thus decided to make peace with the Kapoor boy.
Hitching up with a hit hero or heroine has always proved to be profitable and Dippy’s move too has paid off with director Ayan Mukherji casting the two in an upcoming film.
With Dippy and Ranbir bonding once again, Sidhartha refused to be part of the love triangle and with growing rumours of the two getting closer, he decided to put his foot down and call off the relationship.
A week back Sidhartha’s tweet had strongly hinted that the Mallya-Padukone liaison had ended on a bitter note. However, those close to Deepika feel that she hasn’t been affected too much with the break-up as with her re-entry in Ranbir Kapoor’s life, her stars are bound to rise.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
