Spoonful of Jäger
Beyond brandy with hot water, people rarely know other readily available alcoholic options for medicinal purposes. Obviously, we aren’t referring to Benadryl. Amongst a whole range on offer, the herbal liqueur Jägermeister stands tall.
Jägermeister’s ingredients include 56 herbs, fruits, roots and spices including citrus peel, anise, saffron, ginger and ginseng. “Jäger is a super digestif because it has that spicy, mint taste. It goes well after a heavy meal. Traditionally in India too digestifs have a mix of anise and ginger. Due to the spice, it also serves the purpose of alleviating a bad throat. Of course, this needs to be done under medical guidance and Jäger is in no way a replacement for medicines!” says bartender Ashmit Diwan.
When you’re feeling hale and hearty, Ashmit suggests the classic Jägerbomb. “All you need is one shot glass of Jägermeister poured into a tall glass of the energy drink Red Bull. It’s such a burst of freshness,” Ashmit says.
