A look at the trends sashayed down the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013, it seems like the smart casuals are the way to go. Designer Kunal Rawal, who is back after a hiatus of two years, had innovatively used quirky prints casually teemed with deconstructed jackets and clever use of contrasts.
Walking down the ramp, Shahid Kapoor was a picture of uber-casual in a stylish paint print tee paired perfectly with a deconstructed jacked embellished with gold buttons. Straying away from the western casuals for a moment, Kunal chose to highlight the super chic statement that could be made by ethnic wear. Arjun Kapoor, the charming actor of Ishaqzaade was in a black kurta with a contrasting yellow sleeve lining, black bundi and churidars.
Having designed for the who’s who of Bollywood, Kunal’s collection had a colourful flair alternated with clean cuts, structured detailing and sharp silhouettes. A dashing Shahid Kapoor said, “Kunal is a dear friend and a great designer. It was great to walk for him on the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week.”
Arjun concurs, “I have been a part of every show Kunal has done by sitting in the audience and cheering him on and now I was be on the ramp walking for him. Its a classic case of life coming a full circle...was emotional and fun.” Also spotted was Student of the Year star, Varun Dhawan, in smart, stylish casuals.
