Students stand up for child rights

A group of young students joined the volunteer programme of Child Rights and You (CRY) to bring a change in the society.
Now, after being associated with the programme for sometime, they are ready to present their learning on stage with a theatre production that aims to spread awareness about child rights.
Prasad Ahuja, a second year law student from Indraprastha University, says that the 30 students who are involved in the production got together as strangers. “But the same aim of working for the upliftment of the society united us. The training given to us has been really enriching. It has helped me understand the legal aspect of child rights as well,” says Prasad, who thinks that the event will help the audience understand the emotions of kids who suffer.
Aadya, a second year student of English (Hons) from Motilal Nehru College, says before joining the programme she never thought that she could make a difference in somebody else’s life. “But now I’ve been involved in a project in the Dakshinpuri area where I’ve seen the life of underprivileged kids closely and with this performance I’m trying to spread the word for their help. It has been a nice experience overall,” she says.
Harshit Shukla, a B.Tech student, who has been volunteering with CRY for almost a month-and-a-half, says that this experience has helped him think better. “Now, I feel encouraged to help people around me,” he says.
