Style gets an altruistic edge with star wife

Fashion and altruism have seldom made sensible bedfellows. There is always some fashion event or the other happening in the city, generously linked to a charity to give it a respectable air. But then there are some like Mana Shetty’s Araaish, which is being held in the aid of Save The Children Foundation, an NGO that is known for its credible work over 20 years.
Founded by Shetty’s mother, Vipula Kadri, who passed away three years ago, this event has been restricted to the city of Mumbai. “We wanted to create a brand name for ourselves before we ventured any where outside the city. People needed to believe that we were genuine and actually supported the cause that we stood for. So, now we have decided to get Araaish to Delhi in its 11th year,” said Mana Shetty.
The beautiful star wife believes that fashion is a lucrative platform to showcase something like this as it has a greater reach among women that they are targetting.
“It’s an exhibition where many designers from Mumbai are participating and displaying everything from clothes, shoes, jewellery to home décor. That is not something that happens very often in Delhi and besides it’s going to be a fun-filled atmosphere where women can come and enjoy themselves and do some shopping as well,” she says.
And it seems that women in the city are equally excited about this unique showcase. Nitasha Nanda, who will be showcasing a stall of corporate art at the exhibition is thrilled that Araaish is finally coming to the city. “Delhi has always been a city that never shies away from lending a helping hand to social causes, and with the coming of Araaish we get the perfect opportunity to do so,” she told us.

Araaish will be held at The Grand on September 1 from 11 am till 7 pm

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
