Tapping into the mind
Playback singer Megha aks Harini Ramachandran, who is helping several aspiring vocalists through NLP says that her new venture can fast-track these talented youngsters’ route to success. For those who came in late: NLP or neuro-linguistic programming is a fast-rising art that proposes a set of rules to modify behavior in achieving self-improvement, skill-building and personal transformation. But where Megha has used these techniques effectively in her profession is both by evolving as a singer personally and helping music students overcome their inhibitions.
She explains, “Having been a singer all my life, one thing that bothered me was how dependent I was on lyrics during concerts. I’d met Antano Solar John earlier while working on a couple of projects; he was the one who introduced me to NLP as he’d trained abroad under the co-founder of the concept, Richard Bandler.”
The duo has moved on to several national and international projects, using NLP as a tool to help people in various sectors — from corporate professionals and doctors to lawyers and musicians.
“Apart from curing phobias and developing learning skills, NLP has also helped people recover from diseases. We were able to make a group of foreigners who’d never heard Indian classical music before understand and recite intense Carnatic ragas in just half an hour!” adds Megha. “We’re launching a tech platform in India and the US, for people to find practitioners in their cities,” she says.
