Teen writer makes an arty debut
It was a proud moment for art curator Payal Kapoor, when her 16-year-old daughter Arushi recently released her coffee table book Talking Art that features interviews of 16 leading contemporary artists.
“Talking to several well-known contemporary Indian artists gave me a new whole new outlook and changed my thoughts about their work. While interviewing artists, I found they have different notions of art, yet follow the same path with same ideals,” shared Arushi, who is also a national level chess player.
Sharing about her interesting observations about the art world Arushi says, “I noticed, almost all artists did not want to collaborate with others. This was because they felt a sense of sharing and restraint in collaborations. An artist’s love towards art is like a mother’s love towards her child — no mother would like to share her child with the world until absolutely necessary.”
Arushi, a class 12 student at Modern School, Barakhamba Road, is enthusiastic about her achievement but only wishes that she could have interviewed artist M.F. Husain.
