Telly candy? Why knot
After small screen romances and swayamwars, Sara Khan and Ali Merchant are going to make history by getting married in the Bigg Boss house. After all the bickering and controversies around Sara and Ashmit Patel’s “friendship” on the show, as she finally ties the knot with Ali, many wonder if wedding vows continue to survive after the lights are out and curtains down.
Model Amanpreet Wahi, whose wedding was covered by a leading channel for their show on weddings, says, “When the channel told me that they want to cover my wedding I told them clearly that they won’t be allowed to shoot when my doli is going as I didn’t want the world to see me crying. Reality shows have made a joke of the sacred institution of marriage. If you look at Sara and Ali, they’re just doing it for publicity. All this time Sara was flirting with Ashmit and all of a sudden she’s ready to marry Ali. Do you really think marriages on the small screen survive? Haven’t we seen Rahul Mahajan and Rakhi Sawant as examples?”
To each his own and it’s not for a third person to act a judge, believes Anuradha Vohra, a housewife,. “I didn’t like the concept of a swayamwar on television, but if you’re two people who want to marry in real life, why not do it in front of the world with the best designers making clothes for you? I don’t see anything wrong with it. A marriage will survive if the partners are willing to live together, it has nothing to do with getting married in front of family or the world,” says Anuradha.
Well, even as the world speculates on what’s next for people tying the knot on screen, what would soon come as a big surprise to the young lovebirds is that designer Vikram Phadnis has designed the entire wedding collection for the two.
While no one inside the house knows about this yet, Vikram gives us a few details about the designs and how he plans to surprise the two. “No one in the house has any clue about it. I’ve worked on the best jewellery in kundan and jadao polki from Jaipur for Sara, which is exotic and expensive and would go well with her outfit. I’ve designed a brocade sherwani for Ali and Sara will be wearing a lehenga,” he says.
