From then to now of fashion choreography
Many actresses and models swear by his name. Fashion choreographer Kedhar Gawde stunned everyone with his choreography for Jack and Jones, Only and Vero Moda. He says that choreography cannot be learnt or taught. “It’s like dancing. One needs to have the eyesight, taste and ability to do it. It’s all about knowing your body postures,” he says.
Choreography came to him naturally and now it has become a passion. “I come from a family which has its own business but I had this inbuilt love and flair for fashion choreography. I started with the family business as I couldn’t defy my parents. But they soon realised that my interests lie in this and they let me pursue it,” he says.
Gawde is looking forward to the Fashion Week in 2011 in Mauritius where India is hoping to showcase a couple of luxury Indian fashion labels and designers like Manish Malhotra and Anita Dongre.
The fashion choreographer entered the world of fashion when he was just 18 years old. He says that the Indian fashion scene then was still in its nascent stage, but now things have changed. “Indians are being noticed abroad and I think it’s necessary to keep the Indian influence intact. I feel proud that I am an Indian when I work with big names there.”
