There’s no stopping Kat

She might be pipped in the race to feature in a Rajini movie by a certain Deepika Padukone but that doesn’t leave this Bollywood siren a tad perturbed as she’s already busy tackling the tiger projects with heavyweight Khans.

Trust Katrina Kaif to hobnob with the arch-rivals King Khan and Sallu with some panache.
Fresh from the success of her steamy-hot item number Chikni Chameli, Katrina is no doubt in an upbeat mood. Ask her about the much-hyped upcoming project with Shah Rukh Khan from the Yash Raj stable and she quickly chimes in, “It’s too early to speak about it. Predictably, it’s a love story in sync with the Yash Raj Films’ legacy of mushy romances and most importantly, this is Yashji’s comeback film as a director after eight long years. So, we are as excited as he is about his returning to the sets.” Currently, the busy bee is working for Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger in Cuba, for which the camera had started rolling last year. So, what about this outing with Salman Khan or shall we say, her former beau with whom she shares quite a blow-hot-blow-cold vibe? “It is great to work with Kabir (Khan) again after New York. It is simply rewarding to synergise with Salman as he exudes a fair amount of infectious energy around him. The ambience is pepped up and you look for pushing the boundaries to better your performance,” she confirms.
While one wonders what prompted her to step down from megastar Rajnikanth’s next venture, she says, “Rajinikanth sir’s daughter Soundarya Ashwin was in touch with me for Kochadaiyaan. I know it’s a plum offer but as of now, all my dates are blocked unfortunately. Given my schedule for the next 10 months, I was unable to coordinate dates with the technicians’ crew, who are being flown in from different parts of the world for this film.”

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
