Tiger and Woods love anonymity
Young clubbing enthusiasts would swear by Electronic Dance Music or EDM. Italian duo Larry Tiger and David Woods, the producer/DJ duo behind Tiger and Woods label, are known for their happy, uplifting sentiment, generally missing in dance music scene.
Their music is a far cry from the frantic nature of commercial beats occupying the ‘EDM’ charts. In the city, for the second edition of Heineken Green Room, the mysterious duo, who choose to remain anonymous, talked about their music and their resolution to conceal identity.
“Our music is 2012 updated version of boogie and disco, with few elements of techno to it. Since the music is created by electronic instruments, we would say it fits the EDM genre. Ours is just ‘feel good’ dance music,” they explain.
They are known to give few interviews and are mostly hidden behind their signature masks and low hats. But this hasn’t stopped them from attaining disco demi-god status for their smooth, hyper-looped and glittery disco sound.
Talking about their association, they inform, “We have been playing together since 2008. Being DJs in the same city and liking similar kind of music, we became friends and started playing together.” In 2008 itself, they came up with their album, Through The Green, that established them as disco heroes with their 80s inspired music.
In a media hungry world, Tiger and Woods take a refreshing and nuanced stand by being elusive. “We never really planned our anonymity. It was just that we always felt that our music should speak for itself. Nobody needs to see the face of the DJ as long as he/she plays good music. Dance music is just played in dark, sweaty clubs, where no one bothers to look at the DJ. They are just there to dance,” they smile.
