Tranquility interrupted
Bigfishgames.com offers a generous 14 genres to choose from. Word Zen promised relaxing soothing visuals and sounds, and an “all new word-forming, tile-clearing sensation” with a mahjong twist! The longer the words, the more the points.
For just $2.99 I could download the unlimited play version. Instead, I chose the “play now” free download option, which gave me an hour to tour the Zen gardens. With great trepidation I “saved” and “ran” the programme. The anti-virus package advised me the file might be harmful. I resolutely clicked on “agreed” to license agreements and then with grave misgivings, allowed Word Zen make some unspecified changes to my hard disk.
As it turned out, my worst fears were unfounded. Word Zen is magnificent. I got a great kick moving from one level to the next. I started at Apprentice, making deliciously long words at each level. I lost count of the rounds I raced through, without pausing to soak in rather impressive scores. And then the door bell rang! By the time I rushed back, it was all over. That time limit I’d laughed at, had bested me. I’d like another go at the gardens. Maybe I’ll pay for unlimited entry this time!
