Tricks of the trade!

Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Mariah Carey and Britney Spears are just few of the many high-profile clients in his kitty! Meet Ojas Rajani, one of the leading make-up experts around, as he reveals the latest trends in make-up:

Dare to bare
Looking glam while keeping it minimal is the mantra that everyone is following! The ‘Page 3’ look is completely out. People desire a spark in their look without having to try too hard. Soft, subtle, glowy and dewy make-up is in. A bit of blush on the cheeks and well done-up eyes do the trick

Look hues talking
Hues such as coral, peach and cream are a hit in lip colour. They not only give a fresh look but are also perfectly suited to Indian complexion. The smoky look trend is riding high in eye make-up. Gold and shimmer are a good choice with the wedding season here and the festive season fast approaching. Go crazy with coloured eye liners — green, copper, brown.

Get it right
A little bit of care is what it takes to make make-up work for you. Get your foundation right to begin with. Ensure that the shade on the face and the neck match. Opt for long-stay make-up so that your lipstick and kajal don’t bleed by the end of the day. If you live in a humid place, don’t wear too much make-up to begin with. Know the art of corrective make-up and how to camouflage the areas with flaws.

Mane attraction
There is a lot of focus on hair now, whether it’s for a bride or a party goer. Having well-styled hair is half the battle won. Layers and hair extensions are popular currently.

Men, oh pause
The male of the species can focus on having a good body and well-groomed hair apart from owning basic products such as lip balm, sunscreen and an under-eye concealer.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
