As technological advancements in the beauty industry takes giant steps, serums for hair, face and body are coming back as a safe and reliable product in skin care. Both men and women are using serums to get a youthful effect. Reetika Kotecha, beauty expert and Clarins skin spa India head, shares her insight into the many wonders of serum.
SHINY, HAPPY PEOPLE
Beauty serum for the face contains the highest proportion of active ingredients and is known to have a spectacular result in skin care. These face serums are designed with many years of research to prevent or resolve various skin problems. It is due to the high concentration of active ingredients these products are considered true elixirs. Since serum has a fine texture, it can be easily applied and quickly absorbed by the skin. Serums are concentrated and work on repairing and correction of skin concerns. Serums work on the deeper layer of the skin.
The multifaceted drop
The serum drops are quite multifaceted. They are more intensive if you have concerns like dehydration, anti ageing, fine lines or even pigmentation. Serums of different kinds can be used for a specific purpose and to address specific skin concerns by both men and women. It can be used twice daily — during the day and at night. In fact, one can even dab two types of serums to address two different concerns at the same time. Just make sure you are using the same brand of serums here.
Do’s and Don’ts
Serums are best applied with a coat of moisturiser over the serum with an inbuilt SPF or an aditional SPF product, on top during the day. If you want a lighter skin, fresh, and protected against free radicals and protection from the sun.
At night apply the serum with a co-related moisturiser suitable for your skin type, as a night cream will moisturise and repair the skin and works well with a serum. The ingredients are concern specific. There is no generalisation on ingredients. Apply one on top of the other, but do not mix together. Do not use a face serum on the eye contour area, as there are eye specific care products for that area. After you have chosen the type of serum according to your needs, use a few drops on face, neck and décolletage as it works effectively on treating specific skin concerns.
