Tusshar on the rampage

Tusshar Kapoor is on a high these days. Professionally the actor’s career has been steady. After hit films like Golmaal and The Dirty Picture, Tusshar Kapoor is now all set to become the new item boy of the film industry.

Tusshar is rather upbeat about his new item song in his upcoming film Kya Super Cool Hai Hum. “The song Hum Hai Cappucino is a tribute from me and Ritesh to Shilpa Shetty’s Main Aai Hoon UP Bihar Lootne,” he laughs.
On the personal front, Tusshar says he has no qualms about being a permanent actor in most of his home productions. But the man has already chalked out his future plans. “I don’t think I can ever be a director but I might produce a film soon.” We ask Tusshar about the possibility of having a professional rivalry with his already very famous sister-cum-producer Ekta Kapoor. “We might fight or have our creative differences but I know that there is a lot of love and concern that binds me and Ekta together. There is no scope for rivalry,” says Tusshar. Khans’, Bachchans’ and even Kapoors’ are famous for their branding. So what is stopping them? A superstar father Jeetendra, successful filmmaker Ekta and Tusshar too has been doing well for himself. “Ours is a hardworking and ambitious family. But we underplay our stardom. I can only talk on my family’s behalf. You know we’re not interested in being under the spotlight. We don’t believe in marketing ourselves as a brand. We know our worth,” he smiles.
Talking about family, one hears that his parents have been pestering him to settle down. “At 35, I can’t dodge that situation anymore. Yes, mentally and financially I’m ready to settle down. I want to have a family. My parents want to play with their grand children. I’ve promised them that I’ll fulfill their wish soon. The hunt for the perfect partner is on.” While Tusshar insists that his will be a love marriage, we ask him about the possibility of him tying the knot with an actress.
“My family will be very cautious about the girl in my life. They have to agree with my choice. But I don’t really know if she’ll be from the industry,” he says grinning.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
