Twitter-crazy celebs take up social causes
Looks like the tinseltown stars are finally fed up of tweeting about their pets, daily chores and are getting a bit less self-obsessed, so for a change they are using Twitter as a medium to highlight “real” issues. From saving children to collecting funds for victims or raising a voice against corruption, our Bollywood celebrities are urging their followers to do their bit through tweets.
The recent incidents of accidents, scams and flood evoked strong responses in cyber space from Bollywood biggies. Actor Ranvir Shorey expressed his sentiments and recently tweeted, “Overwhelmed by the disasters all around. Mumbai, Leh, Kashmir, Bhopal...Sad times. Ishwar, Allah tere naam, sabko sanmati de bhagwan.” Bipasha Basu too tweeted the helpline numbers for Leh victims on her Twitter account, and urged her followers to retweet the digits and spread it. Actor Kunal Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra joined in by tweeting about a website www.savethechildren.in, where people can donate and help flood victims.
Apart from regular alerts, twitterati also keeps passing around messages about charity organisations.

Let millions walk against corruption thru India.” However, director Mahesh Bhatt expressed his views on the Kashmir issue and tweeted, “Take the Kashmir issue. So much depends on one’s perspective, & none of us has a lock on the whole picture of anything.”
