She has won UK’s Indian Idol and Saregama UK, participated in Indian Idol 4, trained in acting by Anupam Kher and featured on Lift Karade show with Salman Khan and Karan Johar. In short, Harshi Madhaparia (famous as Harshi Mad) is all set for her Bollywood stint.

The singer and aspiring actress was in the city to perform at the unveiling of Avlon Group’s social cause of elementary education. She informs that her first untitled album is all set to be launched. “It’s a Sufi-English mix. Since I love to sing in both English and Hindi, I decided to mix the two and come out with a melodious album,” says Harshi. She plans to launch one song every week starting this November. Till then, Harshi is busy travelling and performing all over the world. “I am also in talks for some Bollywood assignments. I believe it’s the right time to be here. Many newcomers are getting a chance and maybe I will also get lucky,” she smiles.
Though Harshi believes in variety of music and is open to working with any music director, she has a few favourites in the industry. “Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Pritam and Vishal Shekhar are some of the most versatile music directors,” adds Harshi.
Harshi further reveals that she would also like to face the camera. “I love Bollywood films. Though I would love to play a rockstar, a couple of those kind of films have already come out. So maybe a role of a nice bubbly girl would suit me,” she says.
In spite of being born to Indian parents, Harshi had been to India just once when she was a kid. “I don’t remember much. So this time I decided to explore the country. I simply love the food here. Also, shopping in Delhi is one of its own kind of experiences,” she says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
