You envy his energy and what energy it’s to envy! Vir Das is everything you’d want a performer to be — good-looking, humorous, stimulating and dynamic.

We caught up with the actor-comedian-musician Das and got chatting on his upcoming Bollywood movies and other projects.
After his Delhi Belly outing last year, Das is back with a kitty full of goodies. “I’ve been shooting for 295 days after Delhi Belly released!” he says. Bagging lead roles in all his forthcoming movies, Das shares, “There is Go Goa Gone, a zombie flick. In Super Se Upar, I have done a comic role. While Amit Sahni Ki List is a rom-com; then there is Golu and Pappu, which is a family entertainer and Raakh, a serious drama film.”
Das, who had to lose 11-12 kilos and learn to dance for his movies, adds, “I’ve shot for 20 songs in the last one year and I have danced in most of them! You can’t afford to look like a douche-bag if you are being paired opposite a sexy actress.”
Das is also busy with Weirdass Repertory; his theatre company that is soon going to start producing films. His inimitable homegrown humour stand-up show History of India — ViRitten is all set to go on a world tour soon.
“I can’t work on one thing for long,” he says. Juggling films and stand-up acts, Das says that they both complement each other. “Working for movies needs a lot of patience. You have to wait for six months to reap the fruits of your work, unlike stand-up acts where you witness the instant reaction of the audience,” he says.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
