Viru and Ranbir, the latest BFFs

Bollywood and cricket are no strangers to each other. The two are always in news for the latest buzz around relationships, friendships or mere admiration between the two fraternities. Ranbir Kapoor and Virender Sehwag are the latest buddies.

Every time Ranbir visits Delhi, he makes it a point to meet Virender if he’s in town. And this is not the latest development; apparently they became friends on the sets of an ad that they worked on. And it was evident at a recent event where Ranbir and Virender waxed eloquent about each other.
Ranbir thinks all cricketers have a bright chance of making a career in Bollywood, given their fitness levels and good looks.
He has also been asking Virender to try his luck in films for quite sometime now. “I have been telling Virender that he’ll make a good actor and he’s in great shape right now. So why not?” says Ranbir.
However, Virender is quite happy playing cricket. “You know, if I join Bollywood, I will give most actors a run for their money. And Ranbir of all would have to face the toughest competition from me. So it’s only in their interest that I would like to stick to my job,” he laughs.
Apart from the professional camaraderie, Virender also takes dancing lessons from the Kapoor scion. “He’s such a good dancer and I keep asking me to teach some moves,” says Virender. “He’s also taught me some cheesy pick-up lines like ‘Girlfriend banja meri,’” laughs Virender, who thinks Ranbir is the best of the actors we have today. “He’s easily one of the best around. Look at Rockstar. I think he did a fabulous job in the film,” he adds. Though the mutual admiration for each other went on for quite sometime, we just hope this friendship lasts.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
