Welcome spring with florals
If there is a spring in your step and spring outside your window, then why not bring it indoors? After months of solid dreary colours of the winter, it’s time to spread some cheer into your home with floral décor.
While we don’t suggest going old school with big prints from the 80s, you can certainly contemporarise the pattern with various blends and techniques, which are a rage globally. We spoke to Ami Bhat, brand manager for Atmosphere, Fine Furnishing Store.
Methods: There are many ways to incorporate floral décor into the home. While one can always opt for the tried and tested curtains, wallpapers, indoor plants, sofa covers and cushions, there is also plenty of vintage floral furniture that one can choose. Tables and chairs with floral carvings are once again gaining immense popularity.
Trends: One can see a lot of ethnic prints blended into the modern ones these days. The combination is done through fabrics, embroideries, colour contrasts using a lighter base colour and a bright print embossed on the top.
Fabric: Linen is one of the popular fabric in floral décor. We can also see many using silk and silk mixed fabrics for curtains, cushion covers, tablecloths, which lends a very luxurious feel to the house. Though natural fabrics are equally popular along with velvet and chenille.
