What men really want

Some guys would have you believe they’re captivated by your smile, your eyes, your heart overflowing with the milk of human kindness. Some don’t mince words when they list out a woman’s ‘assets’ as the only things they’re interested in. But what does today’s man really want in a woman? These guys decipher the male code to find an answer:

“When you have just met someone, you don’t have much to go on except what you see. So yeah, I admit I’m attracted to someone who’s good looking. I’m definitely taken in by a good butt,” says model Muzammil Ibrahim. Being one of the hottest male models in the country, he’s no stranger to compliments and female attention. However, he says, “There’s nothing more ugly than a bad attitude. No matter how beautiful a woman is, she shouldn’t let it go to her head. I’d much prefer someone who’s nice to talk to.”
There’s no denying that looks are important, says theatre artiste Avinash Daniel. But, they don’t make up the whole package. “It’s quite straightforward, what men want. It might sound crude but the first level is the physical — sex appeal,” he says. “But that’s not going to get you very far. Even the hottest woman can be a bore if she can’t keep you mentally engaged,” he qualifies.
Actor Rajneesh Duggal couldn’t agree more. According to this hunk, “The first thing you notice about someone is of course, their physical attributes but that is never the basis of any relationship.”
Why stereotype men when women want the same things, asks DJ/producer Anoop Absolute. “Yes, we’re attracted to someone who’s confident and sexy. But so are women,” he feels. “Men have deeper levels too and we want the same things that women want — someone who matches our wavelength and is good company in the long run.”
Which guy wouldn’t like a pretty package, as they say. But you can bet they’ll scratch the surface and go beyond the superficial.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
